Synopsis:
Six actors from Bucharest tell the story of Ioana, a girl who grew up in Slatina during the 1980s and 1990s. Although none of the actors have ever been to Slatina, and most of them weren’t even born during that time, their personal lives gradually intertwine with that of the protagonist and her family.
While infused with many comedic moments and cultural and historical references from the ’80s and ’90s, Ioana’s story is a touching one. It is the story of a child caught between her parents’ problems and her own need to feel loved by them.
“I was fascinated from the start by the idea of telling such a common and recognizable story about our own past, seen through the eyes of a simple Romanian family. The micro-universe of the Negrilă family gives rise to a show that invites us all to a moment of introspection into our own micro-universe, family, childhood, parents, friends, and long-forgotten places from the past. It was a privilege to mediate, through this performance, the encounter between the Bucharest audience and Diana Bădica’s text, performed by six wonderful actors who will make you leave the theatre changed.” – Cristian Ban, director of the performance
