 irl who grew up in Slatina during the 1980s and 1990s. Although none of th
 e actors have ever been to Slatina\, and most of them weren’t even born 
 during that time\, their personal lives gradually intertwine with that of 
 the protagonist and her family.\n\nWhile infused with many comedic moments
  and cultural and historical references from the ’80s and ’90s\, Ioana
 ’s story is a touching one. It is the story of a child caught between he
 r parents’ problems and her own need to feel loved by them.\n\n"I was fa
 scinated from the start by the idea of telling such a common and recogniza
 ble story about our own past\, seen through the eyes of a simple Romanian 
 family. The micro-universe of the Negrilă family gives rise to a show tha
 t invites us all to a moment of introspection into our own micro-universe\
 , family\, childhood\, parents\, friends\, and long-forgotten places from
