Synopsis:
A powerful and captivating production about power and fear, the boundaries of normality, the fight against the system, and the beauty of “madness.” A story about freedom.
To avoid prison time, Randle McMurphy, a young misfit, pretends to suffer from mental illness and is transferred to a psychiatric hospital. There, he quickly realizes he has entered a world ruled by fear, where healing is far from the institution’s true purpose. Energetic and rebellious, McMurphy finds, for the first time, a sense of responsibility and tries to spread his zest for life to the other patients.
Committed for just a few months, McMurphy could not have known that his encounter with Nurse Ratched would irreversibly change his fate. Constantly outraged by the hospital’s absurd rules, by treatments that turn patients into vegetables, and by the ever-present fear that grips them, the so-called “madman” begins to fight back. He challenges the system, breaks the rules, and tries to awaken his fellow patients, fighting a system determined to crush their will.
