Synopsis: The evenings are stifling in the Venetian summer, where young people long for each other with unspoken intensity. Yet without their fathers’ approval, marriage is off the table. Civic morality hovers like a watchdog over the passions that burn in secret.

“Surely, a few lies or a little opportunism can’t do much harm,” thinks the charming Lelio, a master of improvisation, especially when it comes to winning women’s hearts. However, his clever turns of phrase, invented noble titles, and fabricated past exploits begin to tangle beyond repair. Even though his feelings might be genuine, the cathedral of lies he’s built soon becomes so massive that nothing can stop it from collapsing.
