SEASIDE STORIES is a succession of stories with different characters, with fleeting encounters, short intense moments cut out from life, perhaps those moments we’ve all lived through, with sandy feet, skin wrinkled from the sun drying the sea water, senses constantly perceiving, beyond the events, in the background, the rustling of the waves, the water’s mirror with its ever-changing shades, the horizon line, the depth’s silence, the salty taste of the air, the smell of algae and rotting shells, the repetitive music of terraces, the striking colors of beach toys. The common substrate of the stories is that feeling of a seaside vacation, shared, though not always consciously, both by those who live nearby and those who return year after year or at least from time to time. And in all of it is the Sea, like a mythological character that fills all the stories with its meaning. Seaside Stories make us recall our own long-forgotten experiences and help us understand what keeps us or brings us back here.
